Madrid, 14th of September, 2018.- Banco Santander will also be present at World Football Summit (WFS), an international congress that will be held in Madrid on the 24th and 25th of this month at the Goya Theater. The financial institution has reached an agreement with WFS where it will host a discussion on the role of football as a driver for social development. Taking part in the presentation will be Enrique Arribas, Head of brand and corporate marketing at Banco Santander; Urs Kluser, General secretary of the UEFA Foundation; Enrique Moreno, Director of global brand of LaLiga and, the most social sides will be provided by Jürgen Griesbeck, founder of the Common Goal project and Tom Vernon, President of FC Nordsjaelland.

In November Santander announced that it had sealed an agreement to become an official sponsor of the Champions League, with the agreement beginning at the start of the 2018/2019 season, with a duration of three seasons. It is the most prestigious club tournament, with massive audiences in Santander’s main markets of Europe and America. With this sponsorship, Santander strengthens its relationship with football after ten years of sponsoring the main football competitions in Latin America, such as CONMEBOL Libertadores, and LaLiga in Spain.
In addition, on the 30th of August, Banco Santander announced the signing of former Brazilian footballer Ronaldo Nazário as global ambassador of their football sponsorships, during an event in Monaco coinciding with the UEFA Champions League Group Draw.
That same day, the entity also announced its support for the “Common Goal” movement, led by streetfootballworld, a recognized international NGO that aims to change the world through football by providing financial support to organizations that use the sport as a tool for social transformation. They launched the “Football Can” campaign, which kicked off the sponsorship and explains why the bank supports football, the sport with the greatest impact on society and ability to improve people’s lives

World Football Summit (WFS) is the international event of the football industry, gathering the most influential professionals in order to discuss the most relevant topics and generate business opportunities.
