“Alexander Ivanovich Medvedev was born on 14 August 1955 in Shakhtyorsk in Sakhalin. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, majoring in The System of Automatic Control and going on to be a Candidate of Economic Sciences.

In 2002 he joined the board of Gazprom and between 2005 to 2019, he held the position of Vice-Chairman of the Board at Gazprom.
From 2002 to 2014 was also the General Director of Gazprom Export.

Then in 2006 to 2011, he held the title of President and Chairman of the Board of Directors at SKA Ice Hockey Club. In 2011 he moved to being a board member of SKA

In 2008, until 2014, he was Chairman-President of the Kontinental Hockey League and rejoined the board of KHL in 2016.
From the 2015 he has been the General Director of the St. Petersburg Open tennis tournament and from 2016, he has been in charge of the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy.

In February 2019 he took up the position of General Director at Zenit Football Club.”
