Vicente Jiménez

“Vicente Jiménez Navas is 59 years old and a journalist. He is currently editor-in-chief of sports newspaper AS.

He holds a degree in Journalism from the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, in the city in which he was born. Jiménez started his career, in 1984, as a journalist with El Periódico de Catalunya, part of Grupo Zeta. After six years in the sports section there, in 1990 he joined national daily El País, in its Madrid newsroom. In January 1994 he was given responsibility for El País de las Tentaciones, a weekly entertainment supplement that saw huge success thanks to its innovative nature.

Subsequently, he was appointed head of the Madrid Local News section, before taking over as editor of the Society section. In 1999 he was named deputy managing editor of El País, before being appointed, in September 2005, as deputy editor-in-chief of the paper. In May 2014, Jiménez moved to New York as a correspondent for El País, returning to Spain in 2015 to take on the position as general manager of radio network Cadena SER and PRISA Radio’s music stations. In 2018, Jiménez was named general manager of content for PRISA Radio’s Latin American stations.”
