Wanda Metropolitano, host of the upcoming Champions League final, Valencia CF and the international energy company Iberdrola are among the finalists of the seven categories of the WFS Industry Awards that will be presented during the World Football Summit Gala, to be held the next September 24th, 2018 at the Club Financiero Génova in Madrid.
In addition, the Executive General Director of Real Madrid, José Ángel Sánchez, and the Spaniard Ferrán Soriano, Executive Director of Manchester City, will also appear along with their Juventus colleague, Giuseppe Marotta, in the category of the Best Executive of the Year.
Some of the finalists for the Best Venue Category are: The Wanda Metropolitano, Atlético de Madrid Stadium, the American Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Falcons field of the American Football League, and the CenturyLink Field in Seattle, football and American football.
In the Best Commercial Initiative, Valencia will compete against the Dutch football team AZ Alkmaar and the Argentine Racing Club. Iberdrola is also nominated for the Best Women’s Football Initiative for its support of the First Division of Women’s Football, the Liga Iberdrola.
A total of 120 candidacies from 23 countries have been submitted, of which 21 of them have been selected by a jury of experts in the sport industry, three for each of the seven categories. The international soul of these awards means that 10 countries from 4 continents are represented in the nominations. The winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held on the evening of September, 24th at the Club Financiero Génova, during the first of the two days of World Football Summit, where the football industry will meet at the Goya Theatre in the capital of Spain.
