WFS is coming to the Americas to celebrate 100 years of FEDEFUTBOL 1920 1080 World Football Summit

World Football Summit has partnered with the Costa Rican Football Federation (FEDEFUTBOL) to deliver Congreso de Fútbol de las Americas, a global industry event that unites North, Central and South American footballing figureheads.

World Football Summit (WFS) has signed an agreement with FEDEFUTBOL – the Costa Rican Football Federation – to deliver Congreso de Fútbol de las Americas

The global industry event will take place in San Jose, Costa Rica from 16-17 March 2022, with the aim of uniting North, Central and South American footballing figureheads.

Established on June 13, 1921, FEDEFUTBOL turned 100 this summer, and will join forces with WFS for Congreso de Fútbol de las Americas in what will be not only a celebration of Costa Rican football, but also the industry in the region as whole.

“This congress is an exciting opportunity to celebrate 100 years of the Costa Rican Football Federation, giving us the chance to pay homage to our history while also planning football’s future in the country and across America,” said FEDEFUTBOL President, Rodolfo Villalobos.

“With the support of World Football Summit, we will bring together key stakeholders from every aspect of the industry; from fans and players, to sponsors and shareholders. This will allow us to honour Costa Rican football in the most fitting way, while showcasing the immense talent in our country to the wider world.”

WFS will bring its extensive knowledge to the table in order to assist in the production of a world-class summit like its flagship WFS Europe event that returns in ground-breaking fashion from 22-23 September at Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano.

International WFS editions have followed in Asia, while WFS Africa remains in the pipeline having been postponed due to the first breakout of coronavirus in 2020.

The expertise gleamed from those international verticals of the WFS franchise will help drive this venture into the Americas, which will be WFS’ debut in this corner of the world.

“We’re immensely excited to be coming to the Americas and partner with FEDEFUTBOL to not only deliver what will be a wonderful celebration of its history but also look ahead to an exciting future for football in the Americas,” said WFS Director Jan Alessie.

With the FIFA World Cup coming to Canada, Mexico and the United States in 2026, Congreso de Fútbol de las Americas will shine a spotlight on how those preparations are shaping up, as well as the growing influence of the Americas on the global game.

The 2026 winning World Cup bid was titled United 2026, a fitting starting point for Congreso de Fútbol de las Americas as it sets out to bring together industry leaders and key stakeholders within football from every area of the continent.

Alessie added: “With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, this is the perfect opportunity to build momentum towards that historic event and then help to establish its legacy beyond the tournament in five years time.”

Announcements regarding speakers, tickets, networking and sponsorship opportunities will follow shortly, while more information can be found at; www.congresofutbolamericas.com.
