Founder and board director – KLABU

Jan Van Hovell

Klabu Foundation builds sports clubs together with young refugees in places where they are rebuilding their lives. This non-profit organisation was set up by Jan van Hövell together with a group of dedicated young people in Amsterdam and Kenya. During their work in various refugee camps around the world, they experienced first-hand how sports and games can make a huge difference for young refugees starting over far from home. Founder Jan van Hövell worked in Ghana for UNHCR and with refugees in Kenya and the Netherlands. He also worked as a lawyer until 2016 when he gave up his job to set up KLABU.
