Andrea Traverso

Andrea joined UEFA is 2001 as the Manager of Club Licensing. In 2007 he was appointed Head of Club Licensing and during his tenure has, most prominently, contributed and overseen the development and implementation of the UEFA Club Licensing system across all UEFA member associations and then the Financial Fair Play scheme. Following the introduction of these regulations, European club losses decreased significantly down from €1.7bn just a few years ago. In 2017 for the first time and after six consecutive years of improvement, European top-division clubs generated a ‘bottom-line’ profit amounting to €615million.

In 2017, he was appointed as the Managing Director Financial Sustainability & Research. Among his new responsibilities, he led the creation of an intelligence centre, the development of the recently approved corporate strategy 2019-2024 and the set up of a new innovation unit.

In addition to his role at UEFA Andrea has lectured on various Sports Masters programmes.
