He is the well-acknowledge President of the Asociación de Futbolistas Españoles (AFE) since 2010.
During his career as professional football player, he succeeded bringing Levante UD up from Second division to First division on 2005/2006 season. Five years later, he decided to retire while he was at Hamilton Academical Football Club, and since then has been fully engaged in the football industry, away from the fields.
Since he retired, he was appointed as president of AFE. He was also appointed as vicepresident of FIFpro since 2013 and at the same time became a member of the Board of Directors for several institutions such as UEFA, RFEF and Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD).
