When Liverpool FC CEO Peter Moore arrived at the club in 2017, the Reds had just finished fourth in the table and hadn’t won a trophy in five years. Since then, Liverpool have made it to back-to-back UEFA Champions League finals, winning the latter, and they’re on course for a first league title since 1990. At the same time as Jurgen Klopp has overseen success on the pitch, Liverpool have grown and grown off the pitch too.
In this first episode of The Football Industry Podcast, we go back to Peter Moore’s discussion with Michael Robinson from WFS Madrid 2019. We pick out some of the most interesting points the Liverpool CEO had to make and host Euan McTear. analyses them with John Gibbons of The Anfield Wrap and with WFS communications director Paco Roche.
From the importance of Peter Moore being from the city of Liverpool to the club’s unique ‘This Means More’ campaign to the launching of a subscription-based YouTube channel for fans to enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes content to the use of data in recruitment, this episode aims to explain the business model that has been driving Liverpool onwards towards success.
