World Football Summit and and Retro Minds Network join forces to organize their first international football industry event in the Asian region. The event will take place in April 2019 in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, and will position WFS as the leading event for the football industry in Asia.
Madrid, May 24th, 2018 – World Football Summit (WFS), in partnership with the Malaysian company Retro Minds Network, launches its first international edition to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, next April 2019.
The official signing of the agreement took place during the presentation of World Football Summit 2018, the international leading event on the football industry held annually in Madrid, whose third edition will be celebrated next 24th and 25th September. The presence of Malaysia has always been relevant at WFS; H.R.H. Prince of Johor, Mr. Tunku Ismail Idris, current President of the FMLLP, participated in the closing ceremony of the first edition and during the second edition the CEO of FMLLP and the General Secretary of Football Association of Malaysia had an active participation in the Summit.
WFS explained during the official launching of WFS Asia today at Club Financiero Génova that they want KL to become the Asian hub for the football industry: “we believe the first international edition of World Football Summit will be a great success, and we have decided to focus on Asia because of the potential of the region as a whole”, stated Marian Otamendi, Director of WFS.
The project has the support of LaLiga, Global Partner of WFS:
“From the beginning, we have support WFS in its initiative to organize an international edition, and we had clear that Asia was the right direction to start. Malaysia is definitely the place to be, and from LaLiga we are starting to work together with WFS in this project” – Oscar Mayo, LaLiga’s International Director said.
WFS Asia has been backed up by Governmental bodies such as the High Commission of Marca España, as they see it as an opportunity to expand the Spanish brand towards the Asian region, and the Malaysian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, H.E. Mr. Abidin Bakar who attended the official signing and media launch.
Nexus Fostering Partnership, promoters of WFS, have worked for many years with Malaysian Institutions such as MIDA, MATRADE and the International Trade and Industry Ministry. Its partner in this project, Retro Minds Network, has also many years of experience organizing large events not only in Malaysia but in the whole Asian continent: “we are thrilled to co-organize this event in Malaysia, where we expect 2,000 attendees from over 55 countries”, explained its CEO Mr. Mohan Rajaratnam during the launch of WFS Asia in Madrid.
