WFS, ready to transform Madrid in the world capital of the football industry

An attractive and varied programme, together with a large panel of prestigious speakers, will bring together more than 2,300 attendees from 80 countries

 

Madrid, August 8, 2018.- Everything is ready for the third edition of World Football Summit (WFS) to begin in just under seven weeks, on September 24th and 25th. This new edition will be held at Teatro Goya in Madrid, which for two days will become the world capital of the football industry and a meeting point for those who want to be aware of the current trends of an economic sector whose figures reflect its growth and unstoppable potential. The football industry could be considered the 17th world economy and is the main entertainment industry in countries such as Spain. In terms of employment, professional football generates more than 100,000 jobs and contributes more than 1% of Spanish GDP.

The third edition of WFS offers an attractive program in which a large group of prestigious and renowned experts will address the most relevant topics for the industry. Throughout the morning and afternoon sessions, prominent speakers will share their insights through the auditorium of the Teatro Goya; Andrea Agnelli, President of Juventus and the European Club Association (ECA); Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga; Mariano Elizondo, President of the Superliga Argentina; Juan Mata, Manchester United player and co-founder of Common Goal; Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports; Brendan Long, Director of Business Development at Madison Square Garden; or Edmund Chu, founder and Director of Kosmos Holding, a company he created together with Gerard Piqué and Hiroshima Mikitani, President and CEO of Rakuten, who became famous worldwide after the documentary “The Decision”, in which Antoine Griezmann announced that he will continue his career at Atlético de Madrid.

 

They are not the most recognized ones because, along with them, there will also be Ramón Rodríguez “Monchi”, Sports Director of AS Roma; Al Guido, President of the NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers and CEO and partner of Elevate Sports Ventures. Speakers such as Jordi Cruyff, Jorge Valdano and Luis Vicente, FIFA’s Director of Digital Innovation and Transformation, will also be present. The final programme will progressively be revealed to the public through the media, including the list of more than 90 speakers along with the topics which will be discussed at the summit.
