WFS20 moved to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic

· by WFS2017

Three months after the Government officially declared the State of Alarm, Spain is about to enter what its President has referred to as the “new normal”. On Sunday June 21, the Government will put an end to one of the world’s strictest Covid-19 lockdowns. National and International borders will re-open and Spanish citizens will be allowed to travel freely.

Thanks to the tremendous effort of its health workers and the commitment of its citizens, Spain has managed to keep Covid-19 under control as have other Asian and European countries. Unfortunately, in other parts of the world the scenario is very different. Regions across Africa and Latin America, where the virus arrived relatively late, are still fighting to control outbreaks.

WFS, the annual event that kicked-off in Madrid in 2016, is World Football Summit’s flagship congress. Industry professionals from 100 different countries, including many African and Latin American ones, fly to Spain’s capital city every year to come together and network, making it the largest and most multicultural event in the football industry.

The next edition will mark our Fifth Anniversary and we want it to be very special. We want it to be a celebration and we want all our global community to have the opportunity to be a part of it. Unfortunately, under the current circumstances, we can’t guarantee that this will be possible on September 23rd and 24th, when the event is scheduled to network and strengthen bonds.

That’s why, as heart-breaking as it is, we have decided to suspend WFS20. WFS will return in September 2021, when we look forward to celebrating that we’ve all overcome this challenge and that the global society is strong and unified as ever.

In the meantime, we remind you that at WFS Live powered by Octagon, the online congress that will take place from July 6th to 10th, you’ll find all the features that make WFS summits the largest and most appreciated in the industry, but from the safety and commodity of your home or office. We look forward to welcoming you all.

Meanwhile, please stay safe, take care of yourselves and follow the guidance of the Health authorities.

See you soon!
